Crossfit has many different terms when it comes to the workouts. At Crossfit ReVa we constantly are asked the meaning of WOD, AMRAP, EMOM. So we thought it would be helpful if we explained them to you:
This is something you will see every day at the gym. WOD means Workout Of the Day. This term signifies what exactly you’ll be doing at the gym that day.
Here’s an example of a WOD. An AMRAP stands for As Many Reps As Possible. Complete a circuit as many times as you can within a given time frame. For example, six-minute AMRAP: 5 deadlifts, 10 pullups, 20 double unders. When the six minutes is up, record your total rounds completed.
Another one of our favourite Crossfit ReVa WOD’s. EMOM means Every Minute On the Minute. Within this workout you will perform a certain task starting at a specific time and time domain. For an example you would perform 10 Push-ups EMOM for 10 minutes. This means your WOD will be 10 Push ups at the beginning of every minute for 10 minutes.
